Modular Plant Wall
Snap-together wall rails for cuttings in glass tubes, small planters and trailing vines. Stick it up with Command strips or screw it to the wall, and plan yours in the browser.
The planner is free to use now; the file pack is not on sale yet. Watch @harryson.stl for the launch, or email help@harbeworks.com.
Digitally verified, not printed yet: not fit-tested and not load-tested. The tube holders are designed for common glass tubes but not checked against real ones, so print the fit gauge first. Strip loads are calculated from 3M's published ratings with a safety factor of 2.
Everything hangs on one rail.
Stick or screw the rails to the wall. Every other part has a slot on its back that drops over the rail's lip and settles into a notch every 40 mm.
Lift a part up and off to move it, so the wall can grow with your plants: a row of cuttings in glass tubes this month, a planter and a trailing vine next.
The planner below lets you lay out a wall, check that each rail can carry what you hang on it, see it in 3D and get the list of parts to print.
What we know so far.
From the CAD model and Bambu Studio estimates (A1 0.4 mm, 0.2 mm layers), October 2026. Not printed yet.
| Spec | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Grid | 40 mm | Every part takes whole 40 mm cells on the rail |
| Rails | 1, 2 or 4 cells long | Strip back or screw back; joiners and end caps for long runs |
| Test-tube holders | For 1, 2 or 3 tubes | Designed for Ø25 × 150 mm (default), Ø20 × 150 and Ø30 × 200 mm glass tubes; not fit-verified |
| Planters | About 75 mL or 200 mL of soil | Small and large cup, calculated from the CAD; each has a drip reservoir and a front spout |
| Vine parts | Hook, guide arc, label tab | Lead a trailing plant along the wall |
| Print files | 23, no supports | PLA for dry parts, PETG for the cups that hold water |
| Print time per file | 10 to 108 min | The longest is the large planter cup; a tube holder is three short prints |
| Strip mounting | 3M Command Refill Strips | Medium 17021 on 2-cell rails, Large 17023 on 4-cell rails; the planner warns above half the 3M rating (calculated) |
| Screw mounting | 2 screws per rail | #8 or M4 pan-head, 25 to 38 mm, with the right wall anchor |
| Physically tested | Not yet | Digitally verified, not printed, fit-tested or load-tested |
Lay it out first.
Works in your browser, on a phone too. Nothing to install and no account.
Set your wall size, pick strips or screws, then tap parts onto the wall. The planner checks that every part hangs on a rail and that no strip rail carries more than we allow, shows the wall in 3D, and gives you the list of files to print with the print time and filament.
Start from a ready-made wall:
- Propagation station: Rows of cuttings in glass tubes
- Vine wall: The large planter with a trailing vine, on screws
- Mixed wall: Tubes, a planter, vine hooks and labels
- Small starter: One rail, two tubes and a label
The 3D view uses simplified preview shapes. The print files themselves come with the file pack.
Will Command strips hold it?
On paper, yes, with margin: we allow each strip rail half of the strip's published rating, and the planner warns you when a rail goes over that. That is calculated, not tested. Clean the wall with isopropyl alcohol, press each strip for 30 seconds and wait an hour before you hang anything.
When should I use screws?
For anything heavy or wet, like the large planter (on strips it is only allowed on a 4-cell strip rail), in bathrooms, and on wallpaper, textured, damp or freshly painted walls. Hang glass over a soft surface for the first day.
Which test tubes fit?
The holders are designed for common glass tubes: Ø25 × 150 mm (the usual propagation size), Ø20 × 150 and Ø30 × 200 mm. We have not checked them against real tubes yet, so print the small fit gauge first and try your own tubes in it.
What else do I need?
Command Refill Strips (Medium or Large) or screws with wall anchors, and glass test tubes if you use the tube holders.
Will water drip on my wall?
The tube cups and planters are closed, with a spout at the front, so overflow drips in front of the rails. Don't pour water over a bare rail.
When can I get the files?
Soon. The file pack is finished and checked in CAD but not printed yet. You can plan your wall now; the planner's print list names every file you will need.
